Iβve been using Molly Katzenβs cookbooks for 40 years. I had very high expectations and excitement about finally eating at Moosewood. (And so so happy the menu doesnβt include fake meat!) I was not disappointed! The gift shop is a bit too bougie for me. The food was exceptionally good!

Party of 4 went for dinner around 8:30pm on Juneteenth Friday. We were seated at a table inside. I had the soup of the day which happened to be red lentil. It was a watery version of the Indian dal and was okay. My entree was the Thai Green Curry and it was really good. My friends had the morrocan stew and lasagna and were happy with those. The interior decor and ambience of the restaurant is quite nice.

I really wanted to love Moosewood given its reputation, but sadly the food fell flat. Almost every dish lacked flavor and desperately needed salt. Unfortunately, there wasn't any on the tables. The bread was hard as a rock (though strangely not stale). The FLX pot pie wasn't a proper pot pie at all it was just a stew with a hard croissant on top. We also ordered the Thai green curry, but what came out was clearly red curry (different flavor profile entirely). The only redeeming item was the chutney on the Moroccan stew and that was genuinely good. Service was friendly, but that doesn't make up for the fact that it's hard to get a reservation and the prices are high for what you get (most entrees were in the $24β30 range). The atmosphere was cozy but lots of variations in temperature (at first it was too hot then too cold - indoor seating). For the cost and hassle, I expected way more flavor.

Moosewood Restaurant was put on my bucket list in 1991. I've finally made it! It was worth the wait! I could have happily ordered ANYTHING on the menu. I had non-alcoholic guava on the bottom to drink, and my husband chose the hummus tray for our appetizer. For our main entrΓ©e he had the Moroccan stew and I had the polenta. OH MY GOODNESS...SOO GOOD!!! If you like vegetarian, don't pass through Ithaca without stopping at Moosewood! Our price range is based on 4 drinks, appetizer, 2 entrees, dessert, and a generous tip.

What an incredible find! We only realized the deep history of Moosewood after we sat down, and it truly lived up to its legendary reputation. The food was outstanding - everything tasted exceptionally fresh, healthy, and perfectly seasoned. We honestly couldn't stop eating! They have an impressive range of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options which made ordering so easy for our family. We tried the beet hummus board, the gluten-free kids' pasta, and the Moosewood burger. Eevery single dish was flawless. Itβs rare to find a place that balances health and flavor so well. This is officially our go-to spot every time we visit Ithaca!
